Southern Iceland is, hands down, one of the best locations to explore an ice cave in Iceland. With so many local glaciers, the landscape is constantly shifting and changing to create these unique formations. You will get aboard a super jeep in order to reach the Katla Glacier (Kötlujökull) the ride is no less of an adventure then the ice cave it self, and the landscape is otherworldly.
DAY 4: Private Snowmobiling on the world famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier & volcano.
Check out of Hotel Rangá
In the morning your guide will pick you up as you check out of Hotel Rangá, it is only but a 25 min drive where you will meet the Snowmobile guides. You will again like the ice cave be taken on a super jeep to reach the snowmobiles that are waiting at the top of the mountain hill where the Glacier begins.
Eyjafjallajökull, is a perfect example of a mix of fire and ice. It's a glacier, like a massive ice blanket that slowly moves downhill. But underneath that icy surface is a volcano, ready to rumble. Sometimes, this volcano wakes up and melts the ice, causing explosions of ash and steam. In 2010, it did just that and disrupted flights across Europe. So, Eyjafjallajökull is both a chill glacier and a hot-headed volcano, making it a unique and sometimes unpredictable natural wonder.
